When you leave Norway the rest of Europe seems unnecessarily hectic.
The calmness is catching and the smooth flat light just adds to the peace.
After 34 years of being away I felt really emotional arriving back into the country.
As children we spent many summers there and as I came through the clouds I was transported back to the mid 80s.
Big open spaces, fjords, slick infrutructure, few busy urban areas, gigantic mountain ranges, awesome coffee ( I don’t remember that in the 80s) and a massive load of ancient history.
Feeling pleased I’d captured what I could over 3.5 days, I suddenly realised in the last few hours I’d need a whole year to do a proper study. It would look different in the snow, different in the evening, different in full sun and what would midnight sunlight be like?
There’s no doubt this small study only scratches the surface.
